Caught on the Fringes of Life: Mothers’ Lived Experiences of Initial Breastfeeding Complications

Becoming a parent changes one’s life, and existential questions arise. Time being oscillate between joy powerlessness, vulnerability, self-confidence, harmony unpreparedness. Breastfeeding, one of the first skills new mothers try to master, can be joyful painful. The aim this study was develop deeper understanding phenomenon initial breastfeeding complications as they are lived experienced by how these supported. Twelve were interviewed, phenomenological lifeworld approach used. Nourishing an infant having understood essence its constituents. Expectations fulfilled, expectations come naught when such wavering powerlessness finding solutions through resistance. results suggest that lifeworld-led caring may lead deepened acknowledgment possibility for feel supported in their extreme situations.
